KWM appoints five new counsels

King & Wood Mallesons has announced the appointment of five new counsels in Spain: Alberto Artés (Energy and Infrastructure), María de Orueta (Investment Funds), Candela Escribano (Real Estate), José Carlos Fraga (Litigation) and Félix Hernández (Finance and Banking).

Alberto Artés has a deep knowledge in regulated activities, particularly in all energy sectors, including electricity, gas and renewables. Throughout his professional career he has repeatedly advised, both in transactional and regulatory matters, some of the main energy operators in the Iberian Peninsula, as well as several international investors.

María de Orueta specializes in the structuring and establishment of domestic and international investment funds (private equity, venture capital, infrastructure, real estate funds, mezzanine, funds of funds, etc.), secondary transactions, co-investment plans and other transactions related to the private equity sector, such as fund restructuring or the creation of special purpose vehicles.

Candela Escribano is a lawyer in the Real Estate team at KWM Spain. Her practice covers all matters related to the real estate sector, including the sale and acquisition of real estate assets (shopping centers, office buildings, logistics parks, hotels, student residences, residential developments, etc.); real estate leasing; real estate sale & lease back; real estate project finance; construction contracts; horizontal property issues and real estate complexes.

José Carlos Fraga specializes mainly in litigation, criminal and civil law, as well as national and international arbitration. Throughout his career he has specialized in the defense and pre-trial advice in litigation and arbitration of special complexity and with different jurisdictions involved, highlighting his practice in judicial proceedings related to the banking, energy, real estate and investment funds sectors.

Félix Hernández specializes in advising all types of entities in the structuring and implementation of sophisticated financing transactions, including, among others, acquisition financings, real estate financings, restructurings and corporate financings, both domestic and multi-jurisdictional. Of particular note is his experience in financing investment transactions related to the private equity sector.
