King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) advised the European infrastructure investment firm Asterion Industrial Partners on the structuring and first closing of its inaugural fund, Asterion Industrial Infra Fund I, with investment commitments of €519 million.
The fund, which has a target size of €850 million, will focus on European mid-market infrastructure investment in sectors such as telecoms, energy and utilities.
The first investors in the fund include sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and asset managers from Europe, North America and the Middle East.
The KWM team advising Asterion was led by partners Isabel Rodríguez (pictured) and Ildefonso Alier. The team also included partner Alberto Ruano, senior associate Pablo Tejerizo and associates María de Orueta and María Mata.
Rodríguez said: “Asterion´s first fund is the biggest infrastructure investment vehicle that has been built in Spain. The success achieved during the period of fundraising highlights, once again, the maturity and professionalism of the private equity sector in Spain and the confidence that it gives international investors.”
