KPMG Abogados appoints five new partners
KPMG Abogados has appointed Francisco Artacho, Maitane de la Peña, Luis Carlos Escudero, Clara Guasch and Juan Londoño as new partners. These promotions are part of a group of 34 new partners appointed by KPMG in Spain during the 2025 fiscal year, which runs from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025.
Of these 34 new partners, 22 have been promoted internally and come from different business areas, while 12 come from outside the firm. Luis Duro, Celia Elu, Belén García, Marta Gil-Fournier, Jorge Losada and Ana Pérez join the Audit department; Cristina Civit, Diego Comendador, Alfonso Colmenarejo, Elsa Del Hierro, Luis Espinosa, Alex Esteban, Guillermo González, Juan Luis Lara, David Melero, María José Menduiña and Yolanda Pérez join the Advisory areas; and also the five new partner solicitors, as mentioned above.
Appointments
Francisco Artacho
Artacho has extensive experience in legal assistance in court proceedings, labour and social security inspections, individual and collective dismissals, collective suspensions and modifications of working conditions, collective bargaining negotiations, relocations and transfers, international mobility, drafting of employment contracts, hiring of administrators and senior management, due diligence and labour M&A, business succession and transfer of workers, occupational risk prevention, etc.
Maitane de la Peña
De la Peña, director of the M&A–Capital Markets area, focuses her activity on M&A and restructuring operations, corporate governance and market abuse, as well as on the management of board of directors’ secretariats. She has extensive experience in IPOs—including BME Growth, Euronext and Mercado Continuo—takeover bids, SOCIMIs and ongoing corporate advice. She also participates in securitisation, structured finance and debt issues, convertible bonds and hybrid instruments.
Luis Carlos Escudero
Escudero has more than 16 years of experience at KPMG Spain and is currently chief operating officer at KPMG Abogados, responsible for operations, processes and the execution of the strategic plan. He previously worked in Outsourcing & Compliance, with experience in accounting and tax management, financial consolidation, ERP implementation, reporting and international coordination. He is noted for his experience in leadership, business development and operational transformation.
Clara Guasch
Guasch is director of KPMG Abogados in the Barcelona office. A specialist in corporate and international taxation, she advises the firm’s multinational clients on numerous tax planning projects and transaction advice. She also collaborates with academic institutions as a speaker on international taxation courses and is co-author of books on the subject.
Juan Londoño
Londoño is a director in the financial and insurance sector taxation area at KPMG Abogados. He has extensive professional experience in tax advice to national and international entities in the financial sector, including banks, insurance companies, management companies and investment funds. Since joining KPMG Abogados, the new partner has been advising clients in the financial sector on a wide range of tax matters, including the analysis and implementation of efficient tax structures, cross-border restructuring and merger operations, tax due diligence processes, and the taxation of complex financial products.
Diversity
In this promotion, the average age is 44, 45.5% of the appointments are women and nearly a third work from regional offices. Diversity is also reflected in the roles: 50% belong to Advisory areas, 27% to Audit and 23% to Legal. This combination of profiles and experiences enriches decision-making and strengthens the firm’s culture.

In addition to internal development, KPMG also offers first job and apprenticeship opportunities for young people. In recent months, 850 new professionals have joined the firm, 22% of whom are specialised in technology. The new hires have been distributed across all business areas and offices throughout the country.
Reinforcement in transformation and technology
In addition to these additions, KPMG also strengthened its transformation and technology capabilities with the integration of LOYIC at the beginning of the year, a company specialising in the implementation of SAP software for real estate asset management. With this operation, it incorporated 80 professionals and expanded its expertise and range of services and solutions to help clients transform their business processes through technology.
All in all, the firm now has more than 1,200 professionals dedicated to transformation and technology consulting, where cybersecurity and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) play a key role.
