Kepler-Karst obtains the acquittal of the well-known businessman Pedro Trapote

Kepler-Karst has obtained the acquittal of the well-known Spanish businessman Pedro Trapote, his companies and his family, owner of several businesses in the capital. The Tax Agency was asking for more than 40 million Euros, including fines and compensation, for tax liability, in addition to prison sentences of more than six years.

“The sentence, issued by the Provincial Court of Madrid, although not final, invalidates the evidence obtained that served for the prosecution, in particular, the expert report, given the relationship of connection with the entry and search of the corporate domiciles, as it is considered unlawful evidence”, shared in a statement from the firm.

Pedro Trapote is a well-known Spanish businessman linked for decades to the world of leisure and hotel business in Madrid. His name has also been linked to numerous projects and events in the city, as well as to iconic venues of Madrid’s nightlife, such as Joy Eslava and Teatro Barceló, landmarks in the city’s music and entertainment scene. He is also the owner of the famous San Ginés chocolate shop. Trapote was awarded the ‘Premio al Mérito Turístico de Madrid’ for his business career.

The firm team was led by of counsel Eduardo de Urbano, PhD of Law and judge on leave of absence, responsible for the firm’s Economic Criminal Law area, who was assisted by of counsel Victor Miranda and associates Sandra Imedio and Paula Cordón.
