José Méndez, new real estate partner at Martínez-Echevarría

The law firm Martínez-Echevarría has announced the incorporation of José Méndez as a new partner in the Real Estate area. With more than 25 years of experience, Méndez has developed his career in the management of legal advice to various development groups, specializing in development, construction, investment, urban planning and historical heritage.

Law graduate from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and with advanced training in legal practice, urban planning and corporate criminal liability, the new partner has worked in complex mortgage debt restructuring operations, such as the one carried out in the “El Cañaveral” sector in Madrid. He has also advised on urban and registry reordering for the viability of investments, including the development of wind farms and the acquisition of real estate in Valdecañas, Cáceres.

Méndez has led the criminal defense of public officials in cases of urban prevarication and protection of historical heritage, achieving acquittals in processes such as those that occurred in Coslada (Madrid). In addition, he has represented developers, construction companies and architects in proceedings for ten-year liability and managers for various urban planning issues.

The new partner also collaborates with the association Hispania Nostra in the defense of historical heritage and has worked in litigation related to historical-artistic sites, building permits and use of protected land. His experience extends to advising on complex leases for restaurant groups in shopping centers and real estate investments both in Madrid and on the coast.
