José Carmelo Llopis elected Dean of Valencia Notary Association
José Carmelo Llopis Benlloch has been elected new dean of the notaries of the Comunitat Valenciana for the next four years. Llopis, a notary since 2008 and currently serving in Viver (Castellón), succeeds Francisco Cantos Viñals, who led the notarial body for the past eight years.
Llopis has served as the first censor on the outgoing board of the Colegio Notarial de Valencia and has held key positions related to notarial technology in European and international organizations. He emphasized the importance of digital transformation in notarial services, including electronic documents and online notarial assistance enabled by Spain’s Law 11/2023.
He praised the Spanish Notariat as a pioneer in digitalization, with over two decades of innovation in e-signatures and data processing. Llopis aims to enhance the digital interaction between notaries and citizens, emphasizing accessibility and efficiency.
The new board of the Colegio Notarial de Valencia, which will formally assume their roles on November 28. includes José Carmelo Llopis Benlloch (Viver) as dean, Gaspar Peral Bernat (Alicante) as vice dean, José Manuel Fuertes Vidal (Valencia) as treasurer, and Eva María Peiró Fernández-Checa (Alcàsser) as secretary.
The Comunitat Valenciana has 327 active notaries across Valencia (162), Alicante (121), and Castellón (44), serving a population of over 5.35 million. From November 2023 to October 2024, they authorized over 823,000 public deeds, with real estate transactions, powers of attorney, and wills among the most requested services.
