Jones Day appoints Gregory Shumaker as new global managing partner

Jones Day has appointed Gregory M. Shumaker (pictured) as new global managing partner. By this appointment, he will become the eighth managing partner in the firm’s 130-year history.

Shumaker is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he was notes editor of the law review. He has spent his entire career with the firm in its Washington office and became a partner at Jones Day in 1997 where he held many positions, including partner in charge of the Washington office, the firm’s recruiting partner and, since 2015, leader of the global disputes practice, with more than 200 lawyers worldwide handling international arbitrations, investigations and cross-border disputes in courts outside the United States.

“Greg is a born leader with a captivating charm while possessing an iron will to protect our clients and the firm. He will be a wonderful steward and will protect our institution and the more than 20,000 people whose lives depend on his success. Jones Day is fortunate to have him take on the role of its eighth managing partner,” said one of the firm’s global managing partners, Steve Brogan.
