Joaquín García-Romanillos, vice-president of Mutualidad, passes away

Joaquín García-Romanillos Valverde, member of ICAM since 1976 and current co-president of the Constitutional and Parliamentary Law Section, has passed away at the age of 79.

A graduate in Law from the University of Granada, for 30 years he spent most of his professional career at Gómez-Acebo y Pombo, focusing on procedural law.

In his early professional career he was a general practitioner in Granada, where he also worked as an assistant professor of History of Law and Civil Law. In addition to his studies in his native city, he furthered his education at the University of Cambridge and Grenoble.

Constituent Legislature

In 1977, he was deputy for Granada (UCD) in the Constituent Legislature, being one of the main protagonists of the constituent process that gave birth to the Spanish Constitution.

He was also a member of the Executive Council of the UCD Parliamentary Group in Congress, Secretary of the Justice Committee and member of the Defense, Regulation and Supplication Committees in the Constituent Legislature. He was also Director General of Justice between 1981 and 1982.
