Javier Bustillo and Jaime Aguilar, new partners at EY Abogados

EY Abogados has recruited Javier Bustillo and Jaime Aguilar, both formerly of Andersen, as new partners in the firm’s commercial law department.

Javier Bustillo

Bustillo, until recently a partner in the Corporate department at Andersen’s Madrid office, has more than 18 years of experience in commercial law and M&A transactions. Throughout his career, he has also worked at firms such as Ecija and Bustillo Abogados, as well as having been part of multinationals such as Coca-Cola and Xerox Europe. He specialises in advising national and international companies in various sectors, as well as venture capital funds and start-ups. In the academic field, he is a professor at the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (ISDE) and the Instituto de Empresa (IE Business School), where he teaches programmes related to entrepreneurship and legal practice, and is the author of several articles and publications.

Jaime Aguilar

Aguilar has more than 15 years of experience in the field of corporate and commercial law. During his career, he has advised companies on a wide range of issues such as restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, as well as corporate governance. The partner also comes from Anderse, a firm he has been part of for the last eight years, and combines his legal work with teaching at the Centro de Estudios Garrigues.

The appointment comes just two weeks after the appointment of Adolfo Zunzunegui as managing partner of EY Abogados, replacing Ramón Palacín, who will now head up the Clients and Markets division.
