Jausas partner leaves to head Dentons’ Barcelona office

Jausas partner Nieves Briz has left the firm to become managing partner of Dentons’ Barcelona office.

Also leaving Jausas for Dentons are senior associate Natalia Ontiveros and junior associate Wenbo Zhou.

Briz (pictured) was a partner in the commercial law and compliance departments at Jausas and was responsible for the firm’s China desk for five years. In January this year, it was announced that Jausas was merging with the Madrid firm GMQ Abogados.

Briz previously spent time at EY Abogados, where she became the first woman to become a partner at the firm.

José María Buxeda, Spain managing partner at Dentons, said: “This is a decisive step in Dentons’ growth strategy in Spain. With the recruitment of Nieves and her team, we will be able to expand the range of services to our clients in Catalonia and strengthen our position in the Catalan market.”
