Vitoria-based law firm Imaz & Asociados has hired Spanish king´s brother-in-law Iñaki Urdangarín as an advisor

Spanish king´s brother-in-law Iñaki Urdangarín will join a small law firm in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country, as his own lawyer announced to Europa Press.

Iñaki is not a lawyer, and his career has been focused on Business Administration. Its job at the law firm is expected to be related to advising matters, although the law firm has still not stated what his specific current role will be.

Imaz & Asociados, led by Jose Ignacio Imaz Arizmendi, offers legal advice to companies, SMEs, management teams, companies administrators, professionals and individuals.

Urdangarin, who is married to the king’s sister Cristina de Borbón, is serving a five-year, 10-month prison sentence for his involvement in a scandal known as the Nóos case. He was found guilty by the Spanish courts of tax fraud, embezzlement and influence peddling, and entered a prison in Brieva (Ávila) on June 18, 2018.

Urdangarín was granted permission to move to Spain’s tercer grado, or Grade 3 prison regime. Under this flexible system, convicts are allowed day release and spend only the nights of Monday through Thursday in prison. He has recently transferred to another prison in Álava, where he will start his job at the law firm.
