ICAM boosts services and defence of profession
The Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) has highlighted a year of strong institutional transformation, marked by new services, strategic projects and intensified activity in defence of the legal profession.
According to its 2025 Annual Report, the association operated in a context defined by the entry into force of Organic Law 1/2025, the acceleration of digitalisation and the growing impact of artificial intelligence on legal practice.
New initiatives
During the year, requests for institutional protection rose 94% to 103 cases, while the ICAM Study Centre exceeded 37,000 students, with most enrolled in free training linked to the Duty of Counsel service. The Duty of Counsel system managed more than 163,000 lawyer appointments and over 120,000 on-call assistance actions.
ICAM also advanced key initiatives such as the “Zero Fee Plan”, expanded digital services and published Spain’s first AI guide for the legal profession, which has already recorded more than 6,500 downloads.
