Iberian Lawyer Gold Awards´ 2014 judging panel announced

Increasing regulation is making the role of lawyers and compliance officers crucial in the development of businesses worldwide. The Iberian Lawyer Gold Awards – Spain (Premios Oro) recognises the excellence of legal teams and compliance officers operating in an ever more demanding economic environment.

It is an honour to announce the panel of judges for this year’s Iberian Lawyer Gold Awards Spain. The winners will be selected by the panel, which is made up of some leading personalities in the legal market including high profile general counsel, legal consultants as well as academics from top law schools around the world. The panel is diverse, very experienced, and has a strong international outlook – it will judge hundreds of applications detailing the excellence and value added of companies legal & compliance teams. These awards incorporate several categories including: legal and compliance team of the year; internationalisation award; as well as individual corporate, IP, compliance, projects & infrastructure and new technologies awards.

The deadline for nomination and submissions is October 15, 2014 at 12.00 (GMT + 1).

Members of the 2014 Iberian Lawyer Gold Award Jury are:

Jorge Fernández González, General Counsel Latin America, 3M, Greater Mineapolis, USA
Jorge is a senior Lawyer with over 14 years experience in in-house counseling positions in multinational environments and multiple industries such as healthcare & pharmaceuticals, industrial/automotive supplies, retail, and security. He has also experience in team management, risk assessment, commercial, antitrust, distribution, compliance & anti-bribery, public tenders, privacy, corporate, employment, litigation, administrative & regulatory issues.

Jesús Moreno Vivas, State Attorney, Abogacía General del Estado-Subdirección General de Contencioso, Madrid, Spain
Jesús has led and managed legal teams for over 13 years, including companies such as Correos or ChronoExpress, old Spanish monopolies that had to face restructuring and important regulatory and competition issues. He has wide experience in corporate and conflict resolution issues. He was Secretary General of Enresa before undertaking his current role as a state attorney representing the Spanish Government in high profile litigations.

Marta Plana, Co founder, Digital Origin London, UK
Corporate generalist attorney with substantial in-house legal experience. She is co founder of Digital Origin, a finance company which operates an online transaction platform for consumer credit that was set up after two years as a commissioner at the Telecommunications Market Commission in Spain. Before this she was head of the technology and IP department, at the law firm Osborne Clark after spending three years as legal counsel at Microsoft in the US.

Chris Scoble, Consultant, Esprima Consulting, London, UK
Chris is a training consultant and coach specialising in legal services. With 25-years experience in the worlds of banking and professional services, Chris has a expertise in a wide range of markets and industries. He is a frequent conference speaker and has published a number of articles on subjects ranging from marketing planning to ‘soft skills’ development.

Lisa Rohrer, Executive Director, Harvard Law School, Boston, US
Lisa specializes in executive education for the legal sector, conducting research on legal services at Harvard Law School. She is also a speaker and consultant on strategic and organizational issues facing law firms in the post-economic crisis era. Prior to joining Harvard she worked at Georgetown University and she also worked as a director of research at the Hildebrandt Institute, a division of Thomson Reuters.

Ben Cook, Editor, Iberian Lawyer, Madrid, Spain
Ben is the Madrid-based editor of Iberian Lawyer, a print and online publication that encompasses the latest news and analysis of the international business and legal world. Ben specializes in business and legal issues affecting companies and law firms in Spain and Portugal, leading reports, research and analysis of the latest trends.

Javier de Cendra, Dean, IE Law School, Madrid, Spain
Javier de Cendra is Dean of the IE Law School. He is also honorary senior research fellow at University College London (Faculty of Laws and Energy Institute), visiting professor at KU Leuven, legal expert at the Malta Forum on Legal Issues of Adaptation to Climate Change, and member of the international advisory board of CEID Colombia.

Juan Carlos Luna, Director, Lawgistic Houston, US
Juan Carlos is cofounder and Director of Lawgistic, drawing from 20+ years experience as an accomplished attorney at Fortune-class, global corporations and international law firms. He most recently served as director of legal projects – Europe and global regions for Hewlett Packard Corporation, where he transformed HP’s legal infrastructure to establish a more efficient, business-driven organisation.

Antonio Vázquez, VP & Chief Counsel, LA Mondelēz International, Miami, US
With over 28 years experience, Antonio leads the Latin American legal and compliance team at Mondelez group, with responsibilities relating to the groups recent merger and restructuring. Antonio is a proactive member of in-house associations in Miami. He started his career in 1998 at PWC.

Moray McLaren, Director, Redstone, Madrid, UK
Moray has worked across the world helping leading advisory business improve their business development and achieve growth. A former lawyer with an MBA in legal services, he is an Associate Professor at IE Business School. He is also a qualified mediator and accredited business coach. Moray recently contributed to “Managing Talent for Success”, part of the IBA’s Law & Management Series.

Marcia Narine, Assistant Professor of Law, St Thomas University, Miami, US
Marcia  is an assistant professor of law at St. Thomas University School of Law. Prior to joining St. Thomas Law, she  served as the vice president and deputy general counsel, as well as global compliance and business standards and chief privacy officer at Ryder System, Inc., a Fortune 500 global transportation and supply chain management solutions company.

Enrique Aznar, Group Chief Compliance Officer, VimpelCom, Moscow, Russia
Enrique joined VimpelCom in September 2013 as group chief compliance officer. VimpelCom is a global telecommunications group with operations in 18 countries. Prior to this he served at Millicom International Cellular  as head of corporate governance & compliance – chief integrity officer. Millicom International Cellular S.A. is a global telecommunications group with mobile telephony operations in 13 countries in Latin America and Africa. He spent 2 years as chief ethics and compliance officer at NOKIA.

Rosemary Martin, GC & Company Secretary, Vodafone Group, London, UK
Rosemary Martin, was appointed group general counsel and company secretary in March 2010. She previously served as CEO of the Practical Law Group, having previously spent 11 years with Reuters Group Plc in various company secretary and legal roles, with the last five years as group general counsel and company secretary. Before joining Reuters, she was a partner with Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw.
