Sergio Cires

HSF incorporates Sergio Cires as partner of the finance practice

Herbert Smith Freehills has hired Sergio Cires, as a new partner in the finance practice, led by Armando García-Mendoza, in the Madrid office, starting next January. He joins from Jones Day where he worked as financial markets of counsel.

Sergio Cires

Coming from Jones Day, Cires has advised and represented national and international financial institutions, equity and debt funds and corporations throughout his more than 15 years of professional experience. He has also specialized in advising on a range of corporate and project finance transactions, as well as debt restructurings and refinancings. In recent years, Cires’ practice has focused mainly on energy and infrastructure, acquisitions and real estate finance, while he has extensive experience in cross-border transactions in Europe, the United States and Latin America.

He holds a degree in Law from the University of Navarra, specializing in legal-economic law, and a Master’s degree in Corporate Legal Consultancy from the Instituto de Empresa.

Herbert Smith Freehills in EMEA

This is the third addition this year of a partner in the Finance practice at Herbert Smith Freehills in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and London, after the firm announced in January the incorporation of acquisition finance expert Ambarish Dash in the London office, and in March of this year, the signing of Fritz Kleweta in the Frankfurt office. With the signing of Cires, the Spanish office of the international law firm, led by Eduardo Soler Tappa, now has a total of 16 partners.
