Herbert Smith Freehills appoints new Madrid senior partner

Herbert Smith Freehills has appointed Nicolás Martín as senior partner of its Madrid office.

Martín replaces Álvaro Saiz, who will become a member of the firm’s advisory board.

Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills in 2009, Martín was a partner at KPMG Abogados and Linklaters.

Until now, Martín led the firm’s Madrid corporate and M&A practice, a responsibility that will now pass to partner Alberto Frasquet.

Miguel Riaño, managing partner of Herbert Smith Freehills’ office in Madrid said: “The appointment of Nicolás as senior partner is an acknowledgment of his commitment to the firm and to clients, as well as his proven experience and ability, and his crucial role as one of the main drivers of the success of the Madrid office.”
