Harvey partners with 100 law schools worldwide

Harvey has announced it has partnerships with 100 law schools worldwide, including IE Law School, ESADE Law School, Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICADE and Universidad CEU San Pablo in Spain, providing access to Harvey, training and support for faculty members.

Commenting on the initiative, Harvey Chief Strategy Officer Keith Enright says: “As AI transforms the business and practice of law, we see an opportunity and an obligation to help educators prepare the next generation of lawyers. Employers increasingly expect graduates to use AI in practice, while educators rightly insist that students develop independent judgment and analytical skills. These aims belong together: using AI well requires students to question its output, test its limits, and decide when to set it aside. That fluency takes guided practice alongside a rigorous legal education. Working hand in hand with educators, we aim to help students build the skills necessary for today’s and tomorrow’s legal industry”.

“The aim is not to teach students how to use a tool, but to train lawyers who can use AI without delegating their own judgement. If we succeed, AI will not diminish the value of excellent lawyers. It will expand their capabilities,” says Jorge Castiñeira, dean of Esade Law School.

“The use of legal AI tools such as Harvey enables legal professionals to accelerate tasks that previously took hours, including document review, source research, the cross-checking of arguments and drafting. More importantly, it allows them to systematise their work, assess information, make decisions and take responsibility for those decisions. It does not replace legal professionals; it completes and complements their work. When used properly, it does not dehumanise the law. On the contrary, it requires legal professionals to reinforce their judgement, responsibility and commitment to fairness, as they remain the only ones capable of determining whether a rule is generally sound”, states Comillas ICADE Law School.

Harvey is backed by investors such as including Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, a16z, Coatue, EQT, GIC, GV, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, J.P. Morgan, Lightspeed and the OpenAI Startup Fund.
