Gómez-Acebo & Pombo’s Lisbon office recruits two former Abreu partners

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo’s Lisbon office has recruited former Abreu Advogados partners Miguel Castro Pereira and Miguel de Avillez Pereira.

Castro Pereira’s departure from Abreu was confirmed earlier this year – he had been a partner at the firm since 1998 and had served as the firm’s managing partner from 2011 to 2014. His expertise includes banking and finance and tax law.

Avillez Pereira, who specialises in corporate and M&A, was a partner at Abreu from 2002 to 2015.

In March this year. Gómez-Acebo & Pombo appointed Francisco Peña as head of its Lisbon office. He replaced Carlos Rueda who was confirmed as the firm’s new managing partner in February.

Francisco Peña, Gómez-Acebo & Pombo’s resident partner in Lisbon, said the new partners will “reinforce areas in which GA&P is already internationally renowned.”

Meanwhile, Gómez-Acebo & Pombo managing partner Carlos Rueda said the addition of the two partners “undoubtedly strengthens our position in the Portuguese market”.
