Garrigues extends Fernando Vives mandate to 2032
Garrigues’ partners’ meeting voted unanimously to renew Fernando Vives‘ mandate as executive chairman ahead of its scheduled expiry in January 2028, extending his tenure by six years to June 2032.
The partners described the decision as the strategic move best suited to prepare the firm for the challenges and opportunities ahead in the legal sector. This marks the sixth time the partners’ meeting has renewed his mandate.
The profile
Fernando Vives (Madrid, 8 October 1962) has served as executive chairman and managing partner of Garrigues since 2009. He holds a doctorate in Law (Cum Laude) and a degree in Economics and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE), and brings more than 35 years of experience in business law, with a focus on capital markets, corporate law, and M&A.
He is a full member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain and has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit and the Cross of Honour of the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort. In 2025 alone, he received recognition as Lawyer of the Year in Iberia at the Legal 500 Iberia Awards 2025, Best Lawyer at the Forbes Best Lawyer 2025, and the Premio Puñetas for Career Achievement from the Association of Legal Communicators (ACIJUR).
