Gabeiras advises on first law of Public System of Culture
Gabeiras & Asociados was part of the team of experts responsible for the preparation and processing of the new law of the Public System of Culture of the Canary Islands, which was approved yesterday with the favourable vote of all the Parliamentary groups of the Canarian Parliament.
The approval of this law represents an unprecedented milestone in the Spanish cultural sector, since its purpose is the creation and regulation, for the first time in Spain, of a comprehensive Public System of Culture that will allow full recognition and public guarantee of cultural rights through, among other provisions, a progressive horizon of application of 2% of the Community budget for culture in 2030. Likewise, it establishes a set of measures for coordination and cooperation between the different Public Administrations of the Canary Islands, as well as entities and organisations that carry out their activity in the Canarian cultural field.
The team was made up of Jesús Prieto de Pedro, of counsel, Roger Dedeu Pastor, partner and Belén Álvarez Cabrera (pictured), partner in charge of the Cultural law department from Gabeiras & Asociados, as well as Tony Ramos Murphy, director of Culturalink.
