GA_P incorporates Pablo Muelas as partner coordinating the Insurance and Pension Funds practice area
Gómez-Acebo & Pombo strengthens its insurance and pension funds practice with the incorporation of Pablo Muelas, until now partner in charge of the insurance and reinsurance area of Hogan Lovells’ Madrid office, as coordinating partner of the area.
Pablo Muelas
Muelas has extensive experience in regulatory and corporate law in the insurance and reinsurance sector. As an active State Insurance Inspector, he has been deputy director general of insurance and regulation at the Directorate General of Insurance and Pension Funds (DGSFP), national expert at the European Commission, and representative of the Administration on the boards of insurance companies.
In the private sector, he has advised national and international insurers on corporate transactions and strategic alliances, intervened in the creation of multi-jurisdictional insurance structures, designed and updated insurance products, advised on insurance contract litigation, arbitrated in reinsurance disputes, participated in innovative insurance distribution models, and advised underwriting agencies and Insurtech. Finally, Muelas provides recurring assistance in DGSFP authorisation and supervision procedures.
In a statement, the firm explained that his incorporation responds to the objective of further strengthening the firm’s insurance group, which also includes Ana Martínez-Pina, as coordinating partner of Financial Regulatory, and a group of partners and associates from different practice areas, who address all the legal advice needs related to insurance and reinsurance entities in a cross-cutting manner.
