GA_P advises in the legal proceedings between the Petersen Group and the Republic of Argentina
Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has been advising the “Petersen companies” (Petersen Energía and Petersen Energía Inversora, both in insolvency proceedings in Spain) in the legal proceedings before the Southern District Court of New York in which Judge Preska has just issued a landmark judgment against the Republic of Argentina requiring it to compensate the Petersen companies, which went bankrupt after the expropriation of the stake held by YPF (former subsidiary of Repsol), in the approximate amount of $16 billion.
The advice provided by the firm has focused on Spanish law issues both in Spain (in the bankruptcy proceedings of both companies and in two legal proceedings initiated in Spain by the Argentine Republic and YPF) and in the proceedings before the American Court.
