GA_P advises Gategroup on Cateringpor acquisition
Gómez-Acebo & Pombo (GA_P) has advised Gategroup on the acquisition of exclusive control of Cateringpor, an airline catering company headquartered in Lisbon. The deal arose from a public tender process for the sale of a majority stake in Cateringpor and was directly linked to the restructuring commitments TAP Air Portugal made under a plan approved by the European Commission in 2021.
Prior to completion, Cateringpor was jointly owned by Gate Gourmet Switzerland Holding GmbH and TAP Air Portugal, with TAP holding the majority stake. The transaction transferred sole control to gategroup — a provider of airline catering, retail-on-board and hospitality products and services — and also involved negotiating the contractual terms under which Cateringpor will continue to supply catering services to TAP going forward. The divestment forms part of the commitments TAP undertook as part of its restructuring plan approved by the European Commission.
