GA_P advises A&G Sustainable Infrastructure on Regeneraqua investment
Gómez-Acebo & Pombo (GA_P) has advised A&G Sustainable Infrastructure on its investment in Regeneraqua, a company dedicated to the development of projects for the production and supply of reclaimed water from wastewater treatment plants.
GA_P also provides ongoing regulatory advice to Regeneraqua for the development of these projects, which are among the first of their kind in the private sector, under Spain’s new regulatory framework for water reuse. The framework was established by Royal Decree 1085/2020, which for the first time allows private operators to produce and supply reclaimed water directly to end users and charge for such services.
This transaction represents an innovative step in promoting circular economy projects led by the private sector in an area traditionally dominated by public administration: the provision of water supply services.
The GA_P team advising on the transaction was led by partner Estibaliz Aranburu and senior associate Irantzu Aguirre (Corporate),counsel Rocío Arias and John Galilea (Tax), and partner Carlos Vázquez, counsel Eduardo Orteu, and Fernando Trigo (Public and Regulated Sectors).
