Five candidates to run for Dean in upcoming ICAB elections
A total of five candidacies have been officially presented for the upcoming elections at the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB), scheduled for Thursday, June 19. In a rare and significant event—only the third in the institution’s history—the entire Governing Board will be renewed, including the positions of Dean, Deputy Dean, Secretary, and thirteen board members. Each elected position carries a four-year term.
Out of the five confirmed candidacies, three are running for the full slate of positions, while two are competing for select roles within the board.
More than 24,100 registered members of the Bar are eligible to vote. On election day, voting will take place at ICAB’s main headquarters.
In addition to the central headquarters, members will also be able to cast their ballots at ICAB’s office within the City of Justice in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, and at ten local ICAB branches.
High-Profile Race for Dean
The race for Dean of the ICAB is expected to be closely watched. The initial candidates, Cristina Vallejo and Joan Ramón Ramos, have actively campaigned since the election was announced on April 29. They are now joined on the official ballot by Vanessa González, Josep M. Paños, and Joan Maria Xiol.
With the candidacies now officially confirmed, the electoral campaign period has begun, setting the stage for a pivotal leadership decision at one of Spain’s most influential legal institutions.
