Fieldfisher adds Xavier Aixelà, from KPMG, as new tax partner
Fieldfisher has strengthened its tax practice with the addition of Xavier Aixelà as a new tax partner based in the Barcelona office. He will team up with Juan Osuna, tax partner based in the Madrid office.
Jordi Ruiz de Villa, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher in Spain says ‘The sector of large estates and family businesses is one of the most important of the firm, so the incorporation of Xavier completes our offering and allows a 360º service’. And he adds ‘Since July 2023, when we reviewed the strategic plan, we proposed to incorporate 12 new partners until the end of 2025, we have already integrated 8 partners, five in Madrid (Eduardo Gomez, Victor Casarrubios, Pedro Claros, Javier Cuairan and Victor Moran) and three in Barcelona (Adriana Lafuente, Pablo Vinageras and Xavier Aixelà), so we are very satisfied.’
Xavier Aixelà
Aixelà has more than 20 years of experience during which he has worked for firms such as Cuatrecasas, Garrigues and most recently at KPMG for more than 12 years.
Xavier specialises in tax advice, both nationally and internationally, to large estates, family businesses and Family Offices, including advice on business reorganisation processes, succession processes, planning and advice on generational change processes in family businesses. Aixelà has also advised on Corporate M&A operations on the tax side. His clients include national family offices of national family groups in the pharmaceutical and construction sectors, among others, as well as family offices of international sportsmen and sportswomen.
In addition, he has specialised in providing tax advice to artists and sportsmen and women since 2003, initially in the Sports & Entertainment department of Garrigues and, until now, as head of taxation in the Sports area of KPMG. Xavier holds a law degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and a master’s degree in taxation from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.
Xavier joins Fieldfisher alongside Anna Thomas as an associate. On his arrival, Xavier declares that ‘Both Anna and I are very happy and excited about this new professional project and we are looking forward to contributing with our effort and knowledge to the growth of the Firm’.
