Felipe Vázquez Acedo joins Pérez-Llorca as insurance partner

Pérez-Llorca has announced the appointment of Felipe Vázquez Acedo, former counsel at Hogan Lovells, as a partner in the insurance practice. This appointment adds to the incorporation of Joaquín Ruiz Echauri in 2020 as partner in charge of the area, and which has continued to grow with the promotion to partner of Rafael Fernández in 2024 and the expansion of the firm’s capabilities in Portugal through Inês Palma Ramalho.

The lawyer has more than 15 years of experience advising insurance and reinsurance companies and other financial sector institutions on the full spectrum of transactional and regulatory matters, including M&A transactions, bancassurance and assurbanking alliances, portfolio transfers and reinsurance transactions, throughout Europe and Latin America.

Vázquez Acedo, who comes from an Anglo-Saxon firm, holds a degree in Law and a Diploma in Business Studies from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE), an Executive Master in Corporate Law from Centro de Estudios Garrigues and Harvard University, and has complemented his training with programmes at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Georgetown University.

“Felipe’s broad transactional skills and extensive regulatory knowledge, as well as his extensive industry experience, bring our already strong practice to another level of sophistication. Felipe’s arrival further boosts our recent expansion in the area and reflects our commitment to providing a first class service to our clients. We are delighted to welcome Felipe to the team,” says Joaquín Ruiz Echauri, partner in charge of the team.
