EY Advises Sonnedix on €3.25 billion Solar Refinancing
EY Abogados has played a pivotal role in the record-breaking €3.25 billion refinancing of two solar photovoltaic projects in Spain, advising Sonnedix on tax matters across Spain and other EU jurisdictions. The transactions represent a significant milestone for Sonnedix, marking the largest and most innovative refinancings in the company’s history.
The refinancing will bolster Sonnedix’s expansion of its renewable energy portfolio in Europe, including energy storage and hybrid projects, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The tax advisory team at EY Abogados was led by Partner Silvia Alonso, supported by Senior Managers Noelia Baranda and Matilde Gómez (pictured in order), alongside Senior Associate Javier Málaga. Their expertise ensured the seamless structuring of the financing facility, which was provided by a consortium of 15 commercial lenders and institutional investors.
Notably, the facility was structured as a Green and Sustainability-Linked Loan, aligning with Sonnedix’s focus on environmental responsibility and sustainable growth in the energy sector.
