EY Abogados advises Repsol on the sale of 25% of its upstream business

EY Abogados has advised Repsol on the sale of 25% of its upstream business, valued at more than €20,000m, for €4,800m to EIG, with a view to a potential IPO of the JV vehicle from 2026.

By this deal, Repsol is driving its transformation into a multi-energy group in line with the objectives of its 2021-2025 strategic plan.

The EY Abogados tax team advising Repsol was led by Cástor Gárate (pictured centre left), leader of the international tax and transactions team, together with specialist partners from the international tax and transactions teams, Isabel Hidalgo (pictured centre right) and Anil Bharwani (pictured left), and transfer pricing, Marcos Pérez (pictured right), as well as a large group of more than 100 professionals from the almost 40 jurisdictions involved under the supervision and coordination of Jesús González and Rafael Álvarez-Mendizábal.
