Eversheds Sutherland advises Etu Energias on Angola offshore deal

Eversheds Sutherland has advised Etu Energias on the sale and purchase Agreement for the acquisition of a 20% participating interest in offshore Block 14 and a 10% participating interest in Block 14K, from Azule Energy, in one of Angola’s most significant producing offshore areas. White & Case also acted as international counsel alongside the Eversheds Sutherland team.

The transaction strengthens Etu Energias’ position in Angola’s upstream sector, increasing its exposure to high‑quality deepwater producing assets with established infrastructure, stable production profiles and strong cash‑flow generation potential, located in the prolific Lower Congo Basin, states Eversheds. The transaction is expected to complete in the second half of 2026, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

The legal advice was provided by Eversheds Sutherland (Portugal), working with its associated firm in Angola, EVC Advogados | Eversheds Sutherland, and with the involvement of Eversheds Sutherland (The Netherlands).

The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by partner João Robles (corporate and M&A, pictured) and included partners Diogo Bernardo Monteiro (tax) and João Rocha de Almeida (public and administrative), principal associate Sara M. Rodrigues (competition), senior associate Alberto Júlio Paulino (corporate and M&A), associate Leonor Gago da Câmara (corporate and M&A), junior associates João Maria Cunha (Corporate and M&A) and Tomás Barbosa Ferreira (public and administrative), as well as the banking and finance team from Eversheds Sutherland (The Netherlands) comprised by partner Kees Westermann and associate Thijmen Kluizenaar.
