Eversheds Sutherland adds TMT partner Miguel Barroso
Eversheds Sutherland has brought on Miguel Barroso as a partner in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) department of its Madrid office, with associate Cristina Ramírez joining alongside him. Both come from Dentons.
Barroso brings over 15 years of experience advising large corporations, private equity funds and public administrations — both domestically and internationally — on digital transformation, data protection and privacy, technology contracting, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and regulated sectors, as well as litigation and arbitration in these fields.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Barroso served as a partner in the TMT practice at Dentons, where he led the creation and development of that practice in Spain. Before that, he worked as of counsel at Herbert Smith Freehills within the Emerging Technologies, Digital, Data Protection and Regulated Sectors group. He has also held teaching positions in postgraduate programmes and in the Bar Entrance Master’s at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Centro Universitario Villanueva.
Jacobo Martínez, managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland in Spain, noted that “Barroso’s experience advising companies on complex technology transformation projects, combined with his strategic vision and leadership capacity, significantly strengthens the firm’s offering in a key area for its clients”.
Associate hire
Cristina Ramírez specialises in intellectual property, data protection, telecommunications, technology contracting and due diligence of technology companies. She previously worked at Cuatrecasas and Herbert Smith Freehills, and holds a degree in Law and Philosophy from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid as well as a Bar Entrance and Business Law Master’s from the Universidad de Navarra.
The two hires reinforce a TMT practice that also includes partner Vicente Arias, as the firm looks to expand its digital regulation capabilities in Spain. Eversheds Sutherland’s Spanish office currently counts 21 partners and around 100 lawyers.
