Eversheds appoints new member for Global Executive Committee

Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Jacobo Martínez, managing partner Spain, as a new member of the European Executive Committee

Jacobo MartínezEversheds Sutherland has appointed Jacobo Martínez (pictured), managing partner of the firm in Spain, as a new member of the firm’s European Executive Committee at a global level. 

In his new two year role, Jacobo will lead the firm’s Human Resources and partner and associate development programmes, one of the firm’s strategic pillars for 2023. His duties will include, “Attracting, retaining and maximising the potential of the best and most diverse talent; driving brand clarity, consistency and confidence; building a diverse and inclusive global community; and fostering the firm’s growth,” said a spokesperson from the firm.

The European Executive Committee of Eversheds Sutherland is composed of a total of five partners of different nationalities. Its objective is to ensure the strategy set out for all European offices and to ensure the firm’s successful growth.

In this context, the Committee is comprised of Ian Gray (UK), chairman of Eversheds Sutherland Europe, who leads the client practice; Helen Thomas (UK), managing partner Europe and head of brand; Jonas Saldzius, managing partner Lithuania, who coordinates the Technology practice; Peter Haas, managing partner Switzerland, responsible for the Compliance practice; and Jacobo Martínez, as head of the Professional practice and its development.

Jacobo Martínez, interviewed by Iberian Lawyer in September 2021, managing partner of the firm in Spain since October 2020 and responsible for the Labour area, has more than 20 years’ experience. His practice focuses on Labour Law and Social Security, including the implementation of complex remuneration systems, advice on the Employment implications of takeovers, mergers and other operations constituting company succession, as well as the various processes of workforce restructuring, collective bargaining and the resolution of Legal Disputes. 

Eversheds Sutherland’s European chairman said: “Having made such an impact since becoming managing partner, I am excited about what Jacobo can bring to us in this next two-year period.”

Eversheds Sutherland has been growing consistently year on year, including the recent merger with FCB Advogados in Portugal, in June 2021, as reported by Iberian Lawyer.
