Ecija has announced the redesign of its structure in Colombia, with the appointment of four new partners and a new leadership by David Bedoya, featuring now a team of more than 30 professionals. The Spanish firm, present in the country since 2021, is now taking “a decisive step in consolidating its position in South America, strengthening its structure through the integration of a group of top-tier professionals who bring proven expertise in all areas of business law”, states Ecija.

The new managing parnter, Bedoya is a lawyer from Universidad de Los Andes and LL.M. in International Tax Law from Leiden University, with more than 25 years of experience in tax law, business structuring, and corporate consulting. Ecija has also integrated the boutique firm Vanegas Morales, specialising in privacy and data protection, with Vanegas’ founding partner Stella Sofía Vanegas Morales and partner Alejandro Londoño joining as new partners at the Spanish law firm. The corporate practice is also strengthened with the arrival of Nicolás Barón (from february 2025), until now managing partner of Laserna & Barón, with more than 23 years of experience in corporate and financial law for major institutions.

Also joining is Daniel Acevedo, formerly an associate partner at EY, specialises in legaltech, legal innovation and technology. His experience spans projects in responsible artificial intelligence and digital transformation at international law firms and technology companies.

A strategic move

“This move responds to our Latin American expansion strategy, which seeks to consolidate us as the go-to firm for legal innovation in key markets such as Colombia. The arrival of four top-tier partners, together with their teams, allows us to continue differentiating ourselves in the digital ecosystem and reinforce our commitment to supporting clients in their technological and business challenges”, states Alejandro Touriño, managing partner of Ecija.

With this restructuring, Ecija aims to strengthen its position in Latin America with a specialisation in technology and the digital economy. The arrival of these partners and their teams is part of the firm’s growth plan, which projects revenues of €150 million by 2028, with Latin America as a key driver of its international expansion, states Ecija.
