We firmly believe that the future of legal advice lies in thoroughly understanding new business models based on blockchain and crypto assets. With this incorporation, we are taking a strategic step to be at the forefront of this change and offer our clients the highest level of legal and tax support in the new digital economy,” said Hugo Écija, executive president of the firm.

Integration of CLCripto

In a context marked by the growing regulatory complexity of the crypto environment in Europe and Spain—with regulations such as MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) and the Tax Agency’s increasing scrutiny of the taxation of digital assets—companies and individuals operating in this ecosystem face new challenges in terms of compliance, tax planning and risk management. The firm explains that the integration of CLCripto seeks to offer legal and tax solutions with a strategic, technical and global vision.

This new division was created with the aim of providing advice to start-ups, investors, fund managers and corporations operating in the crypto environment, addressing key issues such as the taxation of crypto assets, international structures, regulatory compliance, asset tokenisation, DAOs, smart contracts and related litigation.

For his part, Jesús Lorente, founder of CL Cripto, said: ‘Joining ECIJA, a firm with undisputed leadership in legal innovation and international presence, allows us to scale our impact and offer a comprehensive service to clients operating in global and highly regulated environments.’
