ECIJA incorporates Margarita Soto Moya as new arbitration partner

ECIJA has incorporated Margarita Soto Moja, ex Garrigues, as a new partner in the Madrid office, who will join the firm’s litigation and arbitration team, which already has 12 partners and 45 professionals in Spain. She has more than twenty years of experience in dispute resolution through commercial and investment arbitration, and as arbitrator before different arbitral institutions.

With extensive experience in the field, Margarita Soto Moya has specialized in transnational commercial disputes in which she has advised domestic and foreign clients in various sectors (energy, construction, catering, hospitality, infrastructure and real estate, insurance, financial and pharmaceutical, among others), insurance, financial or pharmaceutical, among others) in pre-litigation negotiation processes and arbitration proceedings, both ad hoc and institutional, under the rules of different arbitration institutions, such as the LCIA, the ICC, the AAA, the Zurich Chamber of Commerce, the Danish Institute of Arbitration or the CIAM. He has also worked on matters related to bilateral investment treaties, advising large companies, financial institutions and governments.

Throughout her extensive professional career, Margarita Soto Moya has acted as arbitrator in several arbitration proceedings under the Rules of the Madrid Court of Arbitration and CIAM, and has also acted on several occasions as administrative secretary in arbitral tribunals under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, CAS/CAS and the Madrid Court of Arbitration.

Margarita Soto Moya is a member of the Madrid Bar Association, as well as of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of CEA Mujeres and is president of the Construction and Engineering Law Club.

Education

With a degree in Law from the University of Seville and a diploma in International Commercial Arbitration, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Margarita has also developed her teaching career as a lecturer in the Higher Arbitration Course of CIAMEN, in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, in the Master of Access to the Legal Profession of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and in the Higher Arbitration Course of the Court of Arbitration of Madrid.

With this move, ECIJA not only adds more than 215 partners and more than 1200 professionals to its global structure, but also strengthens and enhances the international litigation and arbitration practice in Spain.
