Ecija hires Justo Garzón as global director of legal operations

Ecija has hired Justo Garzón, formerly director of planning and legal operations at Iberdrola, as its new global director of legal operations, a newly created position within the firm. Garzón will lead the operational and strategic integration of Ecija’s various offices. His appointment, effective 1 January, is part of the group’s expansion and consolidation strategy in Latin America.

A lawyer with more than twenty years of experience in corporate and multinational environments, Garzón has held various senior management positions at Iberdrola, including head of legal services in Brazil, where he led expansion and consolidation projects in Latin America. In 2016, he returned to Spain to take on responsibility for legal advice to the compliance and corporate governance unit of the group’s subsidiaries, and subsequently led the Darwin Project, a global initiative for the transformation and efficiency of legal services.

He has also been a member of the board of directors of Neoenergia, Iberdrola’s subsidiary in Brazil, and has served on various audit, compliance and corporate governance committees.

He holds a law degree from the Pontifical University of Comillas (ICAI-ICADE), an MBA in Business Law from the Getulio Vargas Foundation (Brazil) and a diploma in Corporate Social Responsibility from the Adolfo Ibáñez University (Chile), as well as various certifications in Energy Law, International Compliance and Professional Ethics.
