Ecija hires Cristina de Andrés as real estate partner

Ecija has incorporated Cristina de Andrés Blanco as a partner in its real estate and urban planning practice in Madrid. She joins from Jones Day, where she lately served as of counsel.

With more than 18 years of experience, De Andrés specializes in real estate and urban planning law, combining a transactional track record with expertise in administrative and urban planning matters. She regularly advises institutional investors, private equity funds, asset managers, developers and financial institutions on domestic and cross-border deals. Throughout her career she has worked with active investors in the Spanish real estate market, with particular experience in the logistics, residential and build-to-rent, student housing, hospitality, office and alternative real estate investment sectors.

De Andrés holds a law degree from the University of Valladolid and completed specialization programs at IE Law School and Harvard Law School Executive Education. She is a member of Women in Real Estate Spain (WIRES) and Women in a Legal World (WLW). Before joining Ecija, she spent more than eleven years at Jones Day, and prior to that spent eight years in the urban planning department of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.

Firm strategy

The addition of De Andrés follows the recent arrival of Iván Azinovic at Ecija, and marks a further step in the firm’s strategy to build out its real estate and urban planning practice by combining transactional, regulatory and business expertise, says the law firm.

Alejandro Touriño, chief executive officer of Ecija, said the incorporation of De Andrés “significantly strengthens our capabilities in real estate and urban planning,” adding that her market knowledge, combined with both transactional and urban planning experience, “complements the team and allows us to offer even more comprehensive advice on highly complex real estate projects.”
