Ecija appoints Xavi Muñoz to lead its Barcelona office

Ecija has appointed Xavi Muñoz Bellvehí as the new managing partner of its Barcelona office, a strategic hub for the firm since its opening in 2010 and currently home to 20 partners and more than 50 lawyers. Muñoz succeeds Gabriel Nadal, who has led the office in recent years.

A member of the global management committee and part of the founding team of the Barcelona office more than 15 years ago, Muñoz takes on this responsibility with the aim of consolidating the firm’s growth in Catalonia. “This appointment is part of Ecija’s strategy to decentralise its leadership, promote each of its offices as centres of legal and technological excellence, and reinforce its presence in markets that are key for the digital economy”, states the law firm.

Specialised in corporate law with expertise in regulated sectors such as telecommunications and gambling, Muñoz has advised national and international companies on M&A transactions, regulatory matters, digital content, AI and technological innovation.

“Our goal is to strengthen Ecija’s presence in Catalonia, attract the best talent, and embrace the rapid technological changes that are reshaping our profession. The firm has entrusted me with the leadership of this project, and I take it on with the determination to bring the Barcelona office to the highest level,” says Muñoz.

For Hugo Écija, the firm’s executive chairman, “Xavi’s appointment reinforces our commitment to growth and excellence in all the markets where we operate. His leadership and vision will be key to consolidating our position in the Catalan market.”
