doValue Portugal confirms new Head of Legal

João Monge de Gouveia is the new head of legal of the doValue Group Portugal. This recently created position is designed to create synergies between all departments and all legal units of the Group in Portugal. João Monge de Gouveia will report directly to the CEO of doValue Portugal, Isabel Teixeira and functionally to the Iberia Legal Director Federico G. del Castillo.

João Monge de Gouveia graduated in Law in 2000, is a post-graduate in Commercial Companies and Industrial Property, Copyright and Information Society from the Faculty of Law of the University of Law of Lisbon, and is also a post-graduate in Corporate Finance from the same Faculty. He also attended a course on Data Protection at the Nova University Law School.

He has more than 20 years of experience, both in the practice of law in law firms and in-house positions. Throughout his career he has been a member of multidisciplinary legal teams and has participated in several lawsuits, arbitrations, as well as in mergers, demergers, restructurings and national and international integrations of several companies and respective business areas.

During the last six years, João Monge de Gouveia was Head of Legal & Compliance, for the Renault Group in Portugal, both on the commercial and industrial side, having also been Real Estate Manager of the commercial part and Data Protection Officer of the Plant. He was also the Group’s Ethics Officer for the whole group in Portugal.

Throughout his professional career, João Monge de Gouveia has worked in the areas of Corporate, Real Estate, Civil Law, Civil, Commercial, Criminal and Labour Litigation, Insolvency and Company Recovery, Arbitration, Consumer Law, Insurance Law, Financial Law, Labour Law and Intellectual Property Law.

By embracing this new professional challenge, and from this new direction, João Monge de Gouveia will be responsible for ensuring legal advice to the different operational and business units of doValue and its companies in Portugal, through the definition and implementation of a comprehensive policy of mitigation of legal, reputational and legal risks, based on the current regulatory framework and the best national and international standards.
