DLA Piper in the financing of Gijón’s public lighting system
DLA Piper has advised the European Energy Efficiency Fund (EEEF) on the financing of the comprehensive renovation of public lighting in the city of Gijón.
This project involves work on certain buildings and installations and the incorporation of technologies for the intelligent management of public services, seeking to optimise the city’s energy bill.
It has become one of the most relevant in terms of energy efficiency in the municipal sphere in Spain as it involves the renovation of more than 42,000 lighting points in the streets and public buildings of the municipality. Thus, the city will reduce the electricity consumption of public lighting and municipal buildings by 68% and its carbon emissions by 30%.
