DLA Piper has advised Pricoa Private Capital on a 65 million euros financing granted to Real Betis Balompié. The purpose is primarily to refinance certain financial indebtedness and to finance other operational needs of the Club.

The DLA Piper team advising on the transaction was led by Juan Gelabert, partner in the finance, projects and restructuring department, together with Alberto Rubio, senior associate, and Sara Espina, associate in the same department, members of the sports finance team in the Madrid office, with the collaboration of Carlos Rodríguez, partner in charge of the tax department, and Guillermo Bailach, legal director of this area, as well as Borja de Obeso, and Andrea Rodríguez, partner in charge of litigation, arbitration and regulatory and senior associate in said department, respectively.

Similarly, the UK finance team has provided support from the London office, with a group led by Lewis Gaut (partner of Leverage Finance) and Paul Gray (partner in charge of sports finance), and Neil Thomas, senior associate of finance.

According to Juan Gelabert “this is a very important transaction for our client, which expands its portfolio in Spain in this sector, and also for the DLA Piper team, particularly with regard to sport finance transactions. The characteristics of the transaction once again highlight our ability to provide our clients with a multi-jurisdictional and cross-practice team, which allows us to combine an international approach without neglecting national specificities in sports finance”
