DLA Piper and Cuatrecasas on Four Seasons Hotel

DLA Piper has advised Generali Real Estate on the €330 million refinancing of the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid at Centro Canalejas, in a single-asset hospitality financing transaction in the Spanish market.

The financing was granted to Mohari Hospitality, an investment firm focused on the ownership and long-term development of luxury hospitality assets, and was arranged by Generali Real Estate SGR through its commercial real estate debt platform. The transaction follows Mohari Hospitality’s transition to sole ownership of the asset.

In parallel, Cuatrecasas advised Mohari Hospitality on the segregation and distribution of the Centro Canalejas Madrid assets within its joint venture with OHLA, as well as on the full acquisition of the Four Seasons Hotel, the Hermès retail unit and an associated parking asset.

The team

The DLA Piper Finance team advising on the transaction drew on both the firm’s Spanish and Italian offices. The Madrid-based team comprised César Herrero, Rocío Smith, Pablo González, Ángel Ansorena and Manuel de la Morena, while Giuseppe Mele and Ivano Sprovier contributed from Milan.

Real estate matters were handled by José María Oliva, Erlis Spahia and Elena Teixeira, with tax advice provided by Miguel Baz and Alberto Lobato.

The Cuatrecasas team was led by Sergio Agüera and Marco A. Sanz from the Corporate practice, alongside Héctor Bros (Finance), Julio Brasa (Urban Planning) and Javier Rodríguez (Tax).
