DLA Piper advises CVE on the acquisition of Emeren’s solar project portfolio

DLA Piper has advised CVE, a French independent producer of renewable energies, on the acquisition of eight solar PV plants in Castilla León, Valencia and Andalusia. The plants were part of the portfolio of Emeren Group, a global leader in solar projects. CVE aims to accelerate its development in Spain, tripling the installed capacity by the end of 2025, reaching up to 65 MWp.

The advice ranged from the preparation of a due diligence report assessing the status of each project, to the preparation and negotiation of the acquisition agreement. In addition, each transaction required an analysis of the assets and a complex acquisition agreement structure as each project was at a different stage of its construction process.

In the words of Marta Vizcaíno, counsel: “This important and challenging project demonstrates the growing importance of renewable energy in our country. We are delighted to have been able to contribute our knowledge and experience, and we will continue to work to support our clients in their efforts to advance the energy transition.

The firm Spanish energy team was led by Marta Vizcaíno, corporate counsel, and José María Barrios, partner in charge of regulatory, and comprised José Sala, of counsel, Carlos Daza, legal director, and María Velasco, associate, all from the regulatory law area. Also, together with Marcos Gil and Carlos Tobías, both associates from the corporate department.
