Dentons appoints Kate Barton as Global CEO

Dentons has announced the appointment of Kate Barton as its new Global CEO, succeeding Elliott Portnoy, who has held the position since the firm’s inception in 2013.

Barton, who is transitioning from her role as Global Vice Chair at EY, brings over 30 years of extensive executive leadership experience. At EY, she was a leading figure in global tax services and served on the Executive Committee of Tax. Her career has been marked by significant contributions to international tax planning and compliance, earning her several accolades, including “Female Executive of the Year” and “Woman of the Year – Business Services.”

A distinguished board member of various organizations, Barton holds CPA licenses in New York and Massachusetts and is a certified director with the NACD.

Elliott Portnoy praised Barton’s exceptional leadership skills and her capacity to manage complex global operations, expressing confidence that she will drive Dentons to new heights.

In her new role, Barton aims to build on Dentons’ innovative global strategy and continue to push industry boundaries amidst evolving technological and market trends. She will officially start as Global CEO on November 10, 2024, after a transition period with Portnoy, whose term concludes on November 9.
