Cuatrecasas represents JD Sports and JD Sprinter on Sport Zone merger

Cuatrecasas advised sports equipment retailers JD Sports and JD Sprinter on their merger with Sport Zone in Spain and Portugal.

 

The merged entity will be known as the Iberian Sports Retail Group, and will be the second largest sports retail group on the Iberian Peninsula after Decathlon.

The merged entity has a combined turnover of more than €500 million, and an 11 per cent share of the Iberian market. The group has more than 300 stores in Spain and Portugal and more than 6,000 employees.

Cuatrecasas advised JD Sports Fashion and JD Sprinter on the incorporation of the joint venture. The team included partners Juanjo Ruiz and Nuno Sá Carvalho, and counsel Irene Moreno-Tapia and Marta Pereira da Silva.
