Cuatrecasas partner Gerard Hernández Colet passes away

Cuatrecasas has announced the passing of partner Gerard Hernández Colet, a specialist in real estate and construction transactions, as well as international mergers and acquisitions. Hernández Colet’s practice focused on cross-border deals, including acquisitions of commercial buildings, offices, hotels, and resorts in prime locations across Spain and Western Europe, as well as commercial leasing and the management and sale of retail centers, hotels, and tourist complexes.

He also advised international distribution companies entering the Spanish market and assisted with corporate acquisitions, mergers, reorganizations, and joint ventures in the real estate, construction, hotel, and energy sectors.

Hernández Colet served as partner in Cuatrecasas’ Shanghai office from 2015 to 2016, advising Spanish and international companies investing in China and Chinese clients investing in the Iberian Peninsula. He was a member of the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Barcelona, participated in the international section of the American Bar Association, and regularly spoke at committees focused on China, the Asia-Pacific region, and real estate. During his time in Shanghai, he was also involved with the European Chamber of Commerce in China.

“We will all miss his generosity, warmth, and wise counsel. We have lost a great colleague, an exceptional lawyer, and a knowledgeable mentor. May he rest in peace and remain forever in our memory,” the law firm stated.
