Cuatrecasas appoints New York managing partner

Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira has appointed Elena Cuatrecasas as managing partner of its New York office.

 

Cuatrecasas moves from the firm´s Barcelona office – she will succeed Miguel Ángel Melero, who has been New York managing partner since 2010. Melero will return to the firm´s Madrid office.

Cuatrecasas will “promote the firm´s international expansion”, a firm statement said. Her expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, venture-capital transactions, leveraged buyouts (LBOs), management buyouts (MBOs), management buyins (MBIs), and group restructurings. She also specializes in the pharmacy, health products and biotechnology sectors (life sciences), as well as the TMT sector.

“Combined commercial and tax experience, together with in-depth knowledge of the Iberian market, is fundamental when offering the legal service required by Spanish investments in the US and US investments in Spain and Portugal,” she said.

Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira opened its New York office in 2001.
