Cuatrecasas appoints five new counsels

Cuatrecasas has appointed five new counsels: Daniel Cuyás Prat (tax litigation), Carlos Gortázar Lorente (litigation and arbitration), María Lérida García (corporate finance), María López Ridruejo (EU and competition law) and Álvaro Luna Yerga (litigation and arbitration).

Daniel Cuyás Prat

Daniel Cuyás Prat is a specialist in the defense of taxpayers in tax litigation before state, regional and local tax administrations, and before both national and European courts. He provides advice on tax debts, deferment and fractionation, compensation and other mechanisms to defer the payment of taxes. Professor of tax procedures in the Master’s Degree in Tax Planning and Legal Advice at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, he is the author of numerous articles on tax matters and is a regular speaker at conferences.

Carlos Gortázar Lorente

Carlos Gortázar Lorente is an expert in complex estate and succession planning matters, and in real estate and construction law. He advises large estates and family businesses in agreements, donations, wills and inheritance litigation, as well as real estate companies in all types of contracts, transactions and litigation. Professor of Basque Civil Law at the University of the Basque Country, he has written books and articles on family business and is a regular speaker at academic and business forums.

María Lérida García

María Lérida García specializes in banking and finance law, advising financial institutions, direct lenders, sponsors and debtors in corporate, real estate and infrastructure financing transactions. She also advises the full spectrum of corporate participants in special situations, debt restructurings and distressed debt transactions. He is a member of the Barcelona Bar Association.

María López Ridruejo

María López Ridruejo is an expert in Spanish and European competition law, advises and represents national and international clients in contractual and commercial matters, design of distribution strategies and review of research and cooperation agreements and in the execution of compliance and training programs. She has experience in litigation and proceedings before the European Commission and the national competition authority. She is a professor at Universidad Carlos III and a member of the Madrid Bar Association.

Álvaro Luna Yerga

Álvaro Luna Yerga, a member of the Cassation and Special Appeals group and the Knowledge and Innovation area of Cuatrecasas, is an expert in civil litigation of complex cases and coordinates the development of models and standards on contentious matters. He has extensive experience in special appeals before the Supreme Court and in litigation in the areas of contracts, tort law, medical liability, insurance and consumer law. A regular speaker at conferences and courses, he teaches at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the master’s degrees of the Barcelona Bar Association and the OBS Business School.
