Cuatrecasas advises Wanda on Atlético Madrid investment

Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira has advised Chinese businessman Dalian Wanda on his purchase of a 20 per cent stake in Atlético Madrid Football Club.

Wanda – who owns businesses in the hotel, leisure and real estate sector – bought the stake for €45 million.

A Cuatrecasas statement said Wanda had “entered an agreement with the majority shareholders of Club Atlético de Madrid, S.A.D. to subscribe 20 per cent of the company’s share capital in a future capital increase valued at €45 million.”

It added that clubs shareholders had  not yet approved the transaction.

A multi-disciplinary team of lawyers from the firm´s corporate, finance, public law, intellectual & industrial property, media and protection, litigation and labour and employment practices advised Wanda on the transaction.
