Cuatrecasas advises Vodafone on FibreCo deal with MasOrange and GIC
Cuatrecasas has advised Vodafone on the creation of FibreCo, a new fiber-optic network jointly established with Spanish operator MasOrange and Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC. With coverage of over 12 million premises and serving nearly 5 million customers, FibreCo becomes Europe’s largest fiber-only network dedicated to just two operators within Spain.
Designed with sustainability and energy efficiency at its core, FibreCo delivers a future-ready infrastructure that is robust, reliable, and environmentally conscious — aligned with the telecom industry’s evolving technological and responsible development goals.
The scale of FibreCo, combined with the operational synergies between Vodafone and MasOrange and the financial strength brought by GIC’s involvement, will support ongoing investment in network modernization. This includes the rollout of next-generation technologies like XGSPON, strengthening the competitive landscape of the Spanish market.
The advisory team included partner Federico Roig, senior associate Pedro López-Dóriga, and Pablo del Moral (Corporate M&A); partner Irene Moreno-Tapia and Paula Wignall (Competition); and partner Enrique Carrera, Julene Areitio, and Mario Mas (Competition and Foreign Direct Investment).
