Cuatrecasas advises the FIP on the granting of the Hexagon World Series licence
Cuatrecasas has advised the International Padel Federation (FIP) on the structuring and granting of a new licence for the exploitation of the economic rights of team padel to Hexagon, as part of the launch of the Hexagon World Series, a new global team padel circuit that will be fully governed by the FIP.
The transaction brings in 54, the sports and entertainment agency owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), as an investor and strategic partner for the development of the circuit.
The Hexagon World Series is an evolution of the Hexagon Cup and will be legally integrated into the professional circuits governed by the FIP alongside Premier Padel and the Cupra FIP Tour. Also, this will create a modern, coordinated competitive structure in line with the sport’s growth and federative governance plan and the quest for recognition by the IOC as an Olympic sport.
With this operation, the FIP is furthering the process of modernising padel that began in 2022 with the licence granted to Premier Padel for the management of the economic rights of the main individual padel tour. The new licence granted to Hexagon for the team circuit completes the construction of an integrated ecosystem that optimises resources, preserves sporting integrity and consolidates the FIP as the sole governing body of padel, ensuring unified and stable governance geared towards long-term sustainability and its Olympic roadmap.
The operation also underlines the commitment of leading international operators and investors, including PIF and QSI, to a model of sport organised and guaranteed by the international federation, as opposed to private or purely entertainment-based schemes not endorsed by federative structures.
Roberto Álvarez, coordinating partner of the Sports and Entertainment group, led this transaction together with Marta Máñez and Claudio Hoyos.
